Objectives:

Lead, sets up and controls  the  Safety, Health, Energy, and Environmental Management Systems, contributing to the consistent reduction in the frequency of workplace accidents and incidents, & Environmental incidents,  Will monitor compliance with HBPO internal standards and the applicable legal EHS regulatory framework. Through the analysis of the corresponding data and statistics in EHS, it will generate corrective and preventive actions of the various findings that arise during daily basis operations, non routinary and  extraordinary situations.                            
                            
EHS Manager Tasks and Reponsibilities:                            

  • Ensure compliance, maintenance and implementation of safety, health and environmental programs, ensuring that the company complies with all its regulatory obligations at the federal, state, local  and OPmobility standards. Keeps abreast of regulatory changes that may affect the business and develops plans accordingly.                
  • Develop and maintain an EHS culture through monitoring and maintenance of KPIs: LTA, NLTA, Near Misses, Unsafe acts/conditions, TSV, Ergonomics, EHS Training Hours, Environmental metrics, etc.
  • Report on the performance to the Top Management.                
  • Develop an action plan for each risk identified or reported through the EHS KPIs                
  • Act as EHS Management Representative for all Federal, State and local regulatory entities, including those voluntary programs with agencies.                
  • Develop Implement maintain and improve the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OSH) in accordance with current regulations (ISO 45001)                
  • Ensure the regulatory compliance associated with waste management (Hazardous, Special & Common Waste), wastewater discharge, air quality, spill control and any environmental requirement applicable to the Plant.
  • Owenership of the Environmental & Energy Management Systems (ISO14001 & 50001) and accountable for the  environmental and energy objectives                 
  • Participate in the design and planning of environmental, health and safety training programs to ensure compliance with all government and corporate requirements, and provide EHS specific training. Identifies training needs associated with EHS                
  • Advise and actively participate in ergonomic and safety evaluations of machinery and equipment, to ensure risk mitigation in existing processes and launches, as well as comply with applicable regulatory requirements in terms of safety, health and environmental protection.                
  • Coordinates and carries out evaluations, inspections, gembas and visits in terms of Safety, Health and Environmental Protection, with the aim of identifying unsafe acts and conditions, and guaranteeing that corrective actions are generated and implemented, and maintains a follow-up on these action plans.                
  • Preparation, support and monitoring of internal and external audits in EHS, participation in internal cross audits within the group.                
  • Promote and participate in the reporting, analysis and investigation of accidents, incidents and occupational diseases, with the aim of identifying the multiple causes, sustainable mitigations and providing a learning experience for all. Provide monitoring of the implementation of measures and registration of the entire process in the Enablon platform.
  • Participate in the design and planning of additional work-related tasks (for example, evaluation of improvement ideas, organization of events, weeks of safety, health, environment and ACT FOR ALL)           
  • Participate as a core member of the Emergency Response Team and manage the Site Brigades (first aid; spill response; evacuation, communication and fire response) and implement the emergency management program.                
  • Responsible for the implementation of the Pandemic Response Plan, ensuring that measures are taken for the identification and evaluation of suspected and probable cases and the establishment of preventive measures to minimize the risk of contagion in the Plant.                
  •  Organize, direct and participate in activities that promote employee participation in safety and environmental programs (safety committees, ergonomics committees, accident investigation committees, etc.);                
  • Establish actions to maintain safety for critical processes (LOTO, Work at Heights, motorized industrial vehicles, contractor safety, confined spaces, cutting and welding jobs, etc.) and audit their compliance.                
  • Manage the proper use and administration of PPE in the plant, derived from the corresponding risk analysis by activity, process and task                
  • Report to plant management the results, progress, and recommendations for improvement for the health, safety, environmental protection, and customer focus management system.                
  • This position has the authority and responsibility to stop any process that endangers the safety or health of personnel, significant impacts on the environment, ensuring that the corresponding procedures are followed within the EHS Management System.                
  • Show commitment and assume responsibility for following and complying with the requirements established in the Comprehensive Management System, based on standards, for the implementation and monitoring of the procedures established in the system, taking into account the policy and objectives so that these are carried out.                
  • Has the responsibility and authority to ensure that the QMS is in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, as well as customer requirements.                
  • Comply with the tasks related to the position (among others, carry out and contribute to activities to improve the (general) work environment. In addition, taking into account the necessary industrial safety, health and environmental protection activities that affect the field of work)                
  • Planning,develop and execute of an annual EHS operating budget that ensures needs are met within anticipated limits. Generate Requisitions in SAP for expenses associated with EHS                       

       

Education/Vocational Training:

  • Degree in Environmental, Industrial, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Protection, Business Administration or equivalent        
  • 7+ Years of Experience in Similar Work Environments        
  • Education as a Health & Safety Professional        
  • Conflict management        
  • Troubleshooting        
  • Effective communication        

        

Functions related to experience/specialized knowledge

  • Competence and Mastery of Federal, State and locall Regulations on EHS                
  • Full competence in ISO45001,14001 & 50001 Systems                
  • Strong knowledge / experience in Sustainability Management                
  • Lead the Preparedness and Response to an Emergency in Plant                
  • Customer specific requirement knowledge                
  • Intermediate - Advanced Management of MS Office                
  • Knowledge of Preventive Mental Health Programs                
  • Management of Voluntary Protection Programs (OSHA - VPP)                
  • Knowledge of EHS Softwares as (Enablon, Cority, Velocity, others)
