Lead Material Handler Third (3rd) Shift Essential Functions/Duties:
- The Lead Material Handler is responsible for efficiently and safely handling materials and products within the warehouse or production area. This role ensures the accurate and timely movement of materials to support production schedules, inventory management, and order fulfillment. Additionally, the Lead Material Handler will assist in maintaining a clean and organized workspace to promote safety and efficiency.
- The Lead Material Handler is responsible for ensuring the Assembly Line is consistently supplied with the correct materials, at the right time, and in the appropriate quantities. This role emphasizes safety and maintaining the highest quality standards for the product.
- Ensure all deliveries are met in a Just-In-Time / Just-in-Sequence production environment.
- Remove returnable/empty bins with the correct dunnage from the assembly line.
- Safely load and unload incoming and outbound trucks according to established procedures. Verify bins and goods based on written and verbal instructions to ensure accuracy.
- Sort and scan shipments per written and verbal instructions, both in regular receiving and in the event of discrepancies.
- Mark goods containers with internal accompanying documents, FIFO tags, and store them accordingly.
- Carry out transport and storage operations on company premises, including loading empties/packaging on lorries.
- Provide production areas with materials (containers, pallets, racks, boxes, etc.) per the regulations for moving goods in and out of storage. Load and unload stock for the production line, with the ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
- Remove empty containers, reusable/returnable bins, and packaging materials from production areas. Keep the floor, racks, and tilt tables clean (containers, internal packaging, etc.).
- Communication with all team members and supervisors as it relates to Logistics, Safety, Quality, and Production.
- Disposing of packaging materials, separated into plastics, paper, foil, etc. in the relevant containers, including compressing and tying them with the relevant materials.
- Monitor and report on inventory levels, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
- Conduct regular inspections of forklifts to ensure safe operation and cleanliness. Promptly report any issues or concerns to the supervisor for resolution.
- Manage inventory and assist with order fulfillment processes.
- Carrying out basic written operations and/or entries on IT equipment (Scanners) according to instructions.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Report defects in equipment that may endanger a worker to the Logistic Coordinator/Manager.
- Lead and train a team of material handlers to ensure adherence to safety and operational standards.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of materials.
- Follow rotation schedules.
- To follow and live the OPmobility leadership and value principles.
- Maintain professionalism, a positive attitude, and appropriate conduct when interacting with all customers, including internal OPmobility personnel and external OEMs and suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with the 5 S standards for workplace organization and cleanliness.
- Perform warehouse management (WM) activities as requested.
- Ensure 5s & Respect OPMobilitys Austin facility.
- Cooperation with Human Resources in dealing with personal matters.
- Ensure conformance to all company and legislative policies and procedures and Rules of Conduct.
- Use or wear PPE as required.
- Perform all duties safely and environmentally.
- Ensuring compliance to and participation in IATF 16949 and CSR (Customer Specific Requirements) compliance & ISO 14001 certification.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Education/Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in logistics or warehouse management are a plus.
- Tier 1 knowledge an asset
