Production Lead Trainer
📍 Austin, TX | Full‑Time | Industrial Operations
Why this role matters
As a Production Lead Trainer, you’ll lead the line and develop the team—owning daily production execution while delivering hands‑on training that ensures operators are safe, skilled, and performing at takt. You will act as a key connector between Safety, Quality, and Production, helping to strengthen performance, support new hires, and maintain world‑class manufacturing standards.
What you’ll do
Lead daily production & quality
- Support on‑time, in‑sequence production to meet customer demand.
- Perform and oversee tasks at all stations at 100% takt time, ensuring adherence to Work Instructions and Quality Alerts.
- Communicate priorities clearly to the team regarding Safety, Quality, and Production.
- Assist with problem‑solving, uptime optimization, and root‑cause identification.
Train, coach, and certify talent
- Deliver hands‑on job‑specific training for new and existing employees.
- Maintain training matrices, documentation, and certification tracking.
- Coach employees to follow Work Instructions, quality standards, and safe work practices.
- Ensure operators have the tools, knowledge, and support needed for success.
Own safety & compliance on the floor
- Model safe behaviors and enforce proper PPE usage.
- Stop production when safety or quality risks require immediate attention.
- Support compliance with IATF, customer requirements, and ISO environmental/safety standards.
- Champion 5S standards and help maintain an audit‑ready environment.
Drive KPIs & continuous improvement
- Support reduction of scrap and rework by guiding operators and reinforcing proper methods.
- Track and report training KPIs and production‑related metrics.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that enhance training, efficiency, and operator performance.
What you’ll bring
Education & experience
- High school diploma or GED required; post‑secondary education in a related field is an asset.
- Previous experience in manufacturing (automotive/JIT/JIS preferred).
- Ability to train others and operate all production stations proficiently.
- First Aid/CPR skills and conflict‑resolution abilities are added advantages.
Skills & competencies
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to motivate and guide others.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with shifting priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Work environment & physical requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for the full shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and manual dexterity.
- Must work comfortably in a non‑climate‑controlled, moderately noisy environment.
- Flexibility to change stations or work areas based on production needs.
- Ability to work independently and follow established safety protocols.
