Quality Supervisor

About the Role
We’re looking for a proactive, people‑focused Quality Supervisor to lead our quality team in a fast‑paced, Just‑In‑Time / Just‑In‑Sequence production environment. In this highly influential role, you’ll oversee quality processes on the production floor, coach and support team members, and ensure products consistently meet customer expectations. This is an excellent fit for a hands‑on leader who thrives in manufacturing and is passionate about quality, problem‑solving, and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Do
Quality Leadership & Production Support
- Oversee all quality‑related activities on the production floor to ensure safety, quality, and delivery targets are met.
- Manage daily quality requirements and ensure conformance to customer and internal standards.
- Maintain strong, ongoing communication with Production, Safety, Logistics, and Maintenance to ensure quality issues are quickly identified and resolved.
- Lead problem‑solving efforts including root cause analysis, defect investigations, and corrective actions.
Team Supervision & People Management
- Lead, mentor, and support quality team members on all shifts.
- Promote a safe and respectful work environment and ensure PPE and safety policies are consistently followed.
- Manage Time & Attendance for direct reports.
- Conduct investigations, issue corrective discipline when required, and support the administration of the Collective Agreement and grievance processes.
Quality Systems, Compliance & Standards
- Ensure compliance with company policies, operational procedures, and legislation (OHSA, work refusal protocols, etc.).
- Perform Layered Process Audits (LPAs) and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.
- Maintain low scrap and rework, focusing on root cause elimination and process control.
- Support compliance to IATF 16949, Customer‑Specific Requirements (CSR), and ISO 14001, as well as upcoming launches of ISO 45001 and ISO 50001.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Production and Logistics to ensure 100% material quality.
- Work closely with Maintenance to ensure PM programs and equipment safety needs are addressed.
- Participate in kaizens and continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality performance, processes, and KPIs.
Safety Accountability
- Take every reasonable precaution to protect worker health and safety.
- Possess the authority to stop production immediately for safety‑ or quality‑related concerns.
What You Bring
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required; post‑secondary education in a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience in manufacturing (Tier 1 automotive experience is an asset).
- Experience in unionized environments preferred.
- Familiarity with Time & Attendance systems and material flow (FIFO).
Skills & Competencies
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
- Excellent organizational and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to thrive and lead in a fast‑paced, high‑volume manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of shop‑floor systems, SAP (asset), and PLC functionality (asset).
- Strong computer proficiency and analytical thinking.
Languages
- English required; Spanish, German, or French considered an asset.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for the entire shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching.
- Comfortable working in a non‑climate‑controlled facility with varying temperatures.
- Must work effectively under pressure, adapt to changing priorities, and work independently as needed.
