Quality Engineer
Location: Elkhart, IN
Mission
Apply quality engineering tools and principles to improve product quality, reliability, and supplier performance across OPmobility operations.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier Quality
- Monitor supplier and internal quality performance.
- Lead proactive quality improvements and corrective actions.
- Conduct/participate in supplier audits.
- Support KPI tracking and supplier communication.
Product Inspection
- Support incoming inspection and material troubleshooting.
- Audit products/processes to ensure PPAP and documentation compliance.
- Participate in MRB activities; stop production when necessary for safety/quality.
Quality Management
- Prevent, identify, and resolve product/process nonconformities.
- Verify effectiveness of corrective actions and quality improvements.
- Support gauge control, MSA, and measurement equipment use/calibration.
- Ensure customer requirements, scorecards, and portal tasks are met.
- Investigate new processes/technologies to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Maintain 5S standards.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, state/federal regulations, ISO procedures, and company policies.
Profile Requirements
Education & Experience
- Associate degree/technical certificate or 4+ years of relevant manufacturing experience.
- Minimum 4 years of Quality Engineering or related technical experience.
- Training in TQM, Lean, or Six Sigma preferred.
Technical Skills
- APQP, PPAP, Control Plans, FMEA
- QMS auditing principles
- CMM/Keyence programming
- Statistical analysis/process control
- Sampling principles
- Blueprint reading & basic GD&T
- MSA and measurement tools
- Corrective action & root cause analysis
- Proficient in MS Office
Soft Skills
- Strong communication; able to work independently or lead teams.
- Knowledge of IATF/automotive quality requirements.
- Effective use of quality engineering tools.
