MISSION

 

The Applications Engineer is responsible for coordinating the design and development for assigned programs and ensure that the system performance meets technical requirements. This is a verification testing position for someone with a proven track record in engineering and the ability to work independently.

Work is performed in a fast-paced environment within tight time constraints

 

Responsibilities & Activities

 

  • Responsible for DFMEA, DVP&R, BOM, and engineering timelines including action plans for issue resolution and product validation
  • Collaborate with CAD designers in the development of details and assembly math data/drawings to ensure the design meets the program requirements
  • Responsible for the development of the Design and Process Validation Plans
  • Responsible for the manufacture, assembly, and validation of prototype parts

 

Collaboration:

 

  • Communicates design changes to the program team
  • Releases drawings/math data to suppliers for the manufacture of tooling, prototypes, components, and assembly aids associated with the program
  • Release drawings/math data to the customer that meets the individual customer’s standards
  • Make recommendations for improvement to the program team and the customer to continuously drive towards lower cost and increased quality within the required timing
  • Interface with other Development groups (Components, Materials, Process, and Systems) to ensure the provision of the technologies required to support the program
  • Lead technical contact for assigned programs
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Legal Compliance:

 

  • Ensure legal compliance with state, federal and OSHA requirements
  • Ensure ISO procedures are followed
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies, work instructions and procedures

PROFILE REQUIREMENTS

 

Personal Background

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required
  • Experience in Automotive/Manufacturing preferred
  • Databus messaging structure & application (preferably CAN)
  • Experience in GD&T, DVP&R, DFMEA, and BOM
  • Familiarity of Quality Systems (ISA/TS 16949, ISO/IATF, 26262, and REACH
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the automotive industry with hybrid and/or electric vehicles
  • 4 years’ experience in battery pack development, preferred

 

 Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of quality, safety and manufacturability of battery packs
  • Basic understanding of the capabilities of common CAE systems (Unigraphics, SDRC I-DEAS, CATIA, ABAQUS, etc.)
  •      * No Design experience necessary
  • At ease and effective in a matrix, multicultural, and fast evolving environment
  • Write test plans for software and system verification tests and set up test environment using CAN tools and other test equipment
  • Assist the project manager in the writing of requirements, documents, and project functional specification
  • Travel required – less than 10% (Domestic and International)
