Job Title : Engineering Process Leader - Assembly 

Location: Greer, SC

Responsibilities : 

1.0 Health, Safety, Quality and CSR 

• Apply and promote health, safety, quality and corporate social responsibility policies and procedures. 

• Promote a strong safety culture within the team and across the organization. 

• Ensure safety and ergonomic requirements are integrated into assembly processes and equipment decisions. 

 

2.0 Team Leadership and Resource Management 

• Lead the Manufacturing Engineering Assembly team and manage its day-to-day activities. 

• Recruit, onboard, train and support new employees. 

• Develop individual and team competency levels in line with project and industrial needs. 

• Provide technical and administrative support to the team and escalate critical issues to the supervisor. 

• Ensure optimal service to projects by assigning appropriate resources and expertise. 

• Identify future resource and workload requirements proactively. 

• Manage project activity rates related to the development and design budget and other costs, including travel, training and small capital expenditures. 

• Organize operational support for significant or new technical issues. 

• Ensure benchmarking and technology monitoring for assembly processes and equipment through the Know-How Team. 

• Contribute to supplier panel development. 

 

3.0 Project and OPTIMAP Activities 

• Support all project-related activities within the area of responsibility, including AVP, OPTIMAP and OPTIPRO. 

• Apply OPmobility standards, internal procedures and industrial objectives, including POMS, TESIS, KEOPS, OPTIMAP, OPTIPRO, HSE pillars and the six non-negotiables. 

• Conduct project feasibility studies. 

• Manage assembly process development, including production-ready product design, specifications, supplier oversight, equipment validation and final plant acceptance. 

• Recommend the optimal assembly process and associated technical parameters, including cycle time, OEE and energy consumption. 

• Define the assembly development-hour budget for individual projects. 

• Support the Manufacturing Project Manager in all assembly-related activities. 

• Ensure 100% equipment validation before transfer and plant buy-off for safety, ergonomics, cycle time, number of operators and quality boundary samples. 

• Ensure assembly equipment investment and cost of non-quality remain within ERP objectives. 

• Ensure manufacturing readiness in line with division objectives. 

• Consolidate project knowledge into departmental best practices and standards. 

• Support Assembly Engineers (PPA) with equipment specifications and validation when technical complexity is present, including new assembly processes and innovation projects. 

 

4.0 Operational Support and Continuous Improvement 

• Provide operational support for essential, significant or new questions concerning assembly processes and equipment. 

• Participate in operational productivity workshops. 

• Lead ongoing benchmarking to improve assembly technologies and methodologies, including new suppliers, emerging technologies and competitor practices. 

• Propose cost-saving solutions related to development and design or investment. 

 

5.0 Capitalization, Standardization and Network Activities 

• Transfer knowledge gained through projects and operational activities to the appropriate specialists. 

• Apply standards and contribute to their continued development. 

• Support the departmental network by making acquired knowledge available to the broader community. 

• Use the integrated management system as required when performing these activities.

Profile : 

• Bachelor's degree with relevant experience, or a master's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or automation. 

• Fluent English communication skills. 

• Good understanding of health, safety, ergonomics and industrial risk prevention. 

• Strong technical background in assembly techniques and industrial equipment. 

• Safety- and ergonomics-focused mindset. 

• External candidates: Experience in a similar position with a Tier 1 automotive supplier. 

• Internal candidates: More than three years of extensive professional experience in a relevant role, such as Senior PPA, MPM, R&I Project Manager or Plant Assembly Area Manager.
