Harness Design Engineer

About the Role

As a Harness Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, specification, and qualification of electrical harness systems used in complex products and solutions. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure technical compliance, product reliability, and successful delivery throughout the product lifecycle.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and validate electrical harness solutions in accordance with technical requirements.
  • Define and specify harnesses, connectors, and associated components.
  • Analyze customer technical requirements and translate them into engineering specifications.
  • Review product requirements and ensure compliance through conformity matrices and verification activities.
  • Prepare and maintain technical justification documentation supporting product design decisions.
  • Develop, review, and validate qualification and acceptance test procedures for harness subassemblies.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to detailed design activities performed by the design office.
  • Refine product definitions based on test results, design reviews, and customer feedback.
  • Define production and serial testing requirements.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks throughout the development process.
  • Create and maintain test instructions and technical documentation for recurring products.
  • Support product qualification, validation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
  • Knowledge of electrical connector technologies and interconnection systems.
  • Familiarity with the IPC/WHMA-A-620 standard.
  • Strong understanding of mechatronic systems and electromechanical integration.
  • Experience with electrical insulation principles and management.
  • Knowledge of electrical testing methods, equipment, and validation techniques.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and fault investigation methodologies.
  • Basic understanding of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) principles.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
