The Purchasing Project Associate Director is responsible for managing the regional Project Purchasing organization in Europe, including Project Buyers, Group Leaders, CAPEX Buyer, and Advanced Phase Project Buyer. He also indirectly manages France Indirect Buyers functionally. The role ensures effective sourcing, supplier readiness, project purchasing performance and team development across new developments, carry-over projects, and indirect purchasing scope. The position is based in Poland and requires regular travel.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and develop the regional Project Purchasing team, including workload allocation, onboarding, coaching, performance management and talent development
- Lead purchasing activities for new development programs until SOP + 6 months, including sourcing, benchmarking, supplier selection and customer quote support
- Ensure project purchasing performance in line with Quality, Cost and Timing objectives, including supplier readiness, PPAP on time and non-event launch preparation
- Coordinate sourcing activities with Commodity, Supply Chain, Supplier Quality, Project and Customer Center teams
- Support Europe region order intake objectives through accurate sourcing, cost management and purchasing input for customer quotations
- Monitor purchasing budgets, project hours, CAPEX spend, cash in/cash out contribution, purchase orders and supplier payment schedules
- Lead risk identification and mitigation for supplier, sourcing and launch-related topics, escalating critical issues when needed
- Manage reporting and performance reviews for the Europe region, including savings status, cost targets and indirect purchasing performance
- Drive continuous improvement of purchasing processes, organization, methodology and project closure feedback
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering, Science, Business or Purchasing-related field
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in purchasing, preferably in automotive or project purchasing environment and at least one proven Management experience\
- Strong knowledge of purchasing processes, sourcing strategy, supplier management and project management
- Experience in complex negotiations, commercial law, finance, cash management and purchasing budget follow-up
- Good understanding of automotive development projects, SOP preparation, supplier quality, PPAP and launch readiness
- Ability to manage, coach and develop teams in a regional or matrix organization
- Fluent English
- Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills
- Result-oriented, rigorous, customer-focused, flexible and resistant to stress, with willingness to travel regularly
