PRODUCT APPLICATION DESIGNER 

 

MISSION

Responsible for the design, development and validation of assigned programs and ensures the system meets all technical requirements.   Act as lead Development contact for assigned programs.  Work is performed in a fast paced environment within tight time constraints.

 

RESPONSABILITIES

Responsibility 1: Product Design

  • Activity 1.1 Lead 3D modeling, design changes and makes sure CAD Engineer creates drawings using customer CAD system data banking standards.
  • Activity 1.2 Acts as interface with suppliers, model shops and customer to ensure best possible design.
  • Activity 1.3 Considers manufacturing and assembly concerns when designing.
  • Activity 1.4 Attends meetings on design issues and update files and directories.
  • Activity 1.5 Release drawings / math data to suppliers for the manufacture of tooling, prototypes, components and assembly aids associated with the program.
  • Activity 1.6 Release drawings / math data to the customer per customer’s standards.
  • Activity 1.7 Responsible to ensure design meets OPmobility Global Product Standards

Responsibility 2: Product Development and Validation

  • Activity 2.1 Responsible for DFMEA, DVP&R, BOM, and Engineering timeline including action plans for issue resolution.
  • Activity 2.2 Direct the manufacture, assembly and validation of prototype parts.
  • Activity 2.3 Controls prototype parts and materials. 
  • Activity 2.4 Coordinates use of parts between lab teams, customer, and outside testing supplier.
  • Activity 2.5 Interface with other Development groups (Components, Materials, Process and Systems) to ensure the provision of the technologies required to support the program.
  • Activity 2.6 Direct support to Program Core Team
  • Activity 2.7 Make recommendations for improvement to the program team and the customer to continuously drive towards lower cost and increased quality within the required timing.
  • Activity 2.8 Develop and track validation test plan (DVP&R) to meet project requirements for Customer and OPmobility standards.
  • Activity 2.9 Compose test requests and tracks all testing associated with a given project.
  • Activity 2.10 Provide regular updates to INPRO core team regarding status of testing. 
  • Activity 2.11 Communicates program requirements to other lab employees.
  • Activity 2.12 Supports industrial and laboratory experiments.
  • Activity 2.13 Receives, analyzes and share testing reports with internal/external Customers.
  • Activity 2.14 Makes recommendations for product or test improvements to the program team to continuously drive towards lower cost and increased quality within the required timing.

Responsibility 3: Program KPIs

  • Activity 3.1 Responsible for INPRO Development Deliverables
  • Activity 3.2 Responsible for Program Development Reviews
  • Activity 3.3 Responsible for Program Tech Reviews 

 

PROFILE

Personal Background

  • Engineering degree: Mechanical, Automotive, Industrial, Materials.
  • Fluent English
  • Experience in Automotive Industry
  • Travel required – less than 20% (Domestic and International)

Job Technical skills

  • Microsoft Office tools
  • Experience in GD&T, DVP&R, DFMEA, BOM
  • Product validation experience required
  • CAE/CAD familiarity, preferred
  • Experienced in Safety Components or Fuel Systems components, preferred
  • 3-5 years experience in automotive product development
