- Coordinate of Project Quality Engineers (PJQE) to secure quality in the product and process. With focus on upfront product development to ensure lessons learned are implemented into new generations and VPDS followed accurately.Lead and approve APQP activities throughout quote to post launch phases to ensure the quality of the each VPDS event.
- Responsible to manage the Project Quality team, develop, prepare/organize training with HR, capacity/resource planning, approve/budget/control travel, time keeping.
- Actively deal with and act on other team members to meet quality and projects goals.
- Catalyst and coach for AIAG Core Tools application by all required areas, make training plans, and escalate noncompliance.
- Review quality department procedures and update/ train as required into education system database.
- Lead team to use VSPS and VPRS for test failures during project development; drive teams to know root-cause before making PCA’s, and drive teams to make Lesson Learned Cards where read across is needed.
- Work with organizations or suppliers to implement strategic advanced technologies at manufacturing locations to reduce yearly customer reported quality concerns to meet quality targets.
- Lead PJQE team in the location assigned, this group is responsible of the following activities:
- Ensuring use of quality tools (FMEA, FTA, Six Sigma, DOE) by the program team during program development based on customer requirements and best practices.
- Support on coordination of design verification and product validation testing and communication of results. Ensure parts assigned for validation are of the proper build level and expected quality.
- Review and sign-off on pre-production part builds to verify parts to be sent to customers will meet engineering quality expectations. Review preliminary AAR samples to verify intended appearance criteria.
- Actively deal with and act on other team members to meet quality and projects goals
- Support on PLM engineering inputs for the program and change management process.
- Responsible for Supplier/Make Component AAR, Lamp AAR, Boundary Samples
- Collaborate with Quality team in the creation of Appearance roadmaps
- Accountable for meeting customer requirements regarding quality for all program phases using VPDS, VBOS, and procedures.
- Support APQP / PPAP elements Customer Inputs, DFMEA, DVP&R, Supplier APQP, Drawing and Specs, Facilities/Tools, Production Trial Runs, Customer Eng. Approval
- Review and understand customer scorecard and access to customer portal.
- Participate and co-ordinate with PD and manufacturing engineering during BOM quotes for new programs to ensure adequate function for Project Engineering equipment and facilities.
- Drive program team and interface with customer to ensure Customer Specific Requirements (CSR) and Quality Requirements compliance. Make sure Quality items like Warranty, PPM, QR, MSA, Dimensional, etc. are studied and provide feedback to CBU for feasibility.
- Consolidate special characteristics based on legal, customer and FMEA requirements and support on the process to elaborate/validate/approve official documentation for customer and suppliers (SCIF, DFMEA,DVPR, CPP, PFMEA, poke yokes, Input to IP / EOL Test Specification, etc).
- Lead or participate on preparation for external or internal audits for engineering project deliverables.
- Actively involved in TQCM and VA/VE analysis. Support on product benchmarking and teardowns and / reviews.
- Lead Quality Core Tool Workshops (QCTW) and follow-up closure of opportunities defined in workshop. Lead Joint Check (VJC) workshop and Safe Launch processes to ensure flawless Launch.
- Prepare Quality Inspection report for each prototype build and ensure product integrity.
- Track PPAP deliverables to customers thru complete VPDS phases.
- Co-Participate with production quality in internal and Customer Run at Rate to identify top process quality issues and address them through corrective actions.
- Support and Ensure accuracy for PD robustness studies/documents like boundary diagram, interface diagram, and P-diagram
- Lead team to use VPRS for test failures during development; drive teams to know root-cause before making PCA's, and drive teams to make Lesson Learned Cards where read across is needed.
- Review component drawings and understand the application requirements for each component. Understand all performance and engineering specifications applied to the parts.
- Review warranty data and consolidate quality records, provide feedback to new programs and coordinate open issues regarding implementation of corrective and preventative actions from investigation process (including lessons learned process).
- Drive in Technical Design Reviews (TDR's) with the program core team on developing risk assessments and mitigation tools such as DFMEA, SCIF, PFMEA and Control plan.
- Ensure Design for Manufacturing, Design for Quality methods and Lessons Learned are incorporated by the Program Core Team.
- Support Continuous Improvement process to keep updated documents related to product development, such as: TDR Checklist, Design guidelines, Standard Templates development, DVPR and DFMEA baselines, etc.
- Cooperation and information sharing with international team (America, Europe, India). Active participation/support on problems solving in all locations.
- Responsible for Prototype and Pre-series builds related to documentation, quality control and management, parts approval for Customer delivery, communication to customer and product history.
- Work with tooling specialist to review and analyze dimensional data and quality of first tool tryout molded parts and sign-off parts before tooling/assembly line equipment are shipped.
- Work with PD to define VSA, locating strategy, and stack-up tolerances are considered for every component in the lamp assemblies.
- Support Dimensional Convergence Engineer (DCE) during completion of dimensional capability.
- Develop and monitor with the PD and DCE for the overall dimensional plan for the program GD&T, number of measurement points, datum scheme, number of lamps to be measured at various stages of the program etc.
Requirements:
BS in engineering or equivalent required; mechanical, electrical, optics or chemical/materials engineering preferred
- 5 years minimum related experience preferred
- Experience in molded plastic product design and engineering required. Experience in lighting products is preferred. Knowledge of LED applications and/or electronics integration is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills required. Experience interfacing with automotive OEMs is desired. Ability to work with multiple teams is critical.
- Possess a strong understanding of AIAG Core Tools (APQP, SPC, MSA, FMEA & PPAP), Control Plans/Process Flows
