DEVELOPMENT MATERIAL - PLASTIC ENGINEER

Main missions:
    Define the optimal raw materials and glues for the projects (OEMs RFQs), define the recommendations & risk assessment
    Ensure success of new materials & glues implementation in the plants, anticipation of the validation plan (plates, parts) according customer requirements
    Solves material & adhesive problems during the project and mass production
    Animate materials training modules & coaching sessions

 

Responsibilities:

For projects in quotation and development:
•    Analyse the OEM Material specifications for Exterior & Lighting products (bumpers, headlamps, rear lamps, panels with lighting) 
•    Define the technical criteria to choose the raw material & adhesives, based on
    customer requirements 
    typology of parts to reach the functional performances required 
     purchasing strategy 
    plant constraints and technical feedback


•    Propose a risk assessment and validation plan to the project, define the tests to perform by our laboratory or our chemists
•    Define material recommendation sheet and disclaimers to the customers
•    Keep regular contacts with customers and suppliers (chemists, compounders) to understand and orientate the qualification of the raw materials

For productivity project and production:
•    Propose alternative raw material solutions to reduce costs and / or improved quality of the products
•    Assist production plants in the event of problems linked to raw materials (or adhesives) during serial life

Suppliers follow up:
•    Leads supplier’s development policy in order to meet customer requirements on current and future projects
•    Participate to supplier audit when needed
•    Identify and anticipate needs for new development and coordinate with the suppliers in line with OPmobility strategy
•    Create Supplier specifications

Network and Capitalisation
•    Collect feedback, blocking points and Best Practices from Eng Centers and Plants
•    Formalize Lesson Learned and Golden rules, communicate them to Eng Centers and Plants 
•    Exchange with the worldwide material network 
•    Ensure technical exchange and network with other Departments: Injection, Coating, Bonding, R&I, CAE 

Innovation
•    Give recommendations to Innovation teams to meet OEM requirements
•    Prepare the transition from Innovation to Development phase

Training
•    Create or update technical training module
•    Animation of the training session & coaching sessions 

HSE
•    Ensure that materials & adhesives are compliant to regulation (Reach) and OPmobility policies 
•    Ensure that material proposed are compliant to OPmobility sustainability strategy 

 

Desired Profile:

Master degree in materials or Engineering degree in chemistry, 
Fluent in English (B2 / C1), Spanish

Knowledge of polymers & adhesives, formulation, laboratory tests, transformation processes (injection) & bonding 

4-5 years significant experience in the field of polymers , in Automotive
Knowledge on thermoplastic for  body panel (Polypropylene, Styrenic polymers) and for Lighting (Polycarbonate, PMMA, PP, Styrenic polymers and on adhesives (glues).
