PURCHASING ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR

Main Missions:
Is responsible with his team for timely supply with raw materials, purchased parts and transport & logistic services at competitive cost and specified quality
Supervises the development of regional commodity strategies and the implementation of global commodity strategies in the region to create competitive advantage
Drives purchasing budget and savings process in the region
Is responsible for compliance with OP purchasing procedures and all other relevant compliance rules within his perimeter
Fosters innovation in his perimeter (e.g. introduction of new purchasing tools, making innovations from the supply base accessible for OP)
Drives for his perimeter the implementation of supply chain decarbonization targets in line with OP carbon roadmap
Responsibilities:
1. Supplier Negotiations and Escalations
Coaches his team in the preparation and execution of negotiations and escalations with suppliers
Conducts supplier negotiations and manages the escalation process with suppliers personally when necessary
2. Commodity Strategy and Supplier Panel Management
Regularly reviews commodity strategies with Commodity Buyers to ensure that they meet the needs of the business
Leads the sourcing committee for regional commodities to ensure that supplier nominations are in line with commodity strategies
Approves new suppliers according to the supplier panel criteria of OP, commodity strategies and business needs
3. Purchasing Budget and Savings Process / Squeeze Management
Collaborates with Purchasing Controlling, regional Purchasing Director, Division Purchasing VP and Business Unit Management to develop the purchasing budget
Breaks down the purchasing budget to the level of buyers
Regularly reviews the status of savings implementation and identifies corrective actions to close gaps to budget
Collaborates with Sales Directors to optimize the margin situation
4. Team Management
Continually develops his organization by recruiting and developing talent
Ensures that OP HR processes (e.g. performance review, development review, salary review) are properly executed within his perimeter
Identifies and addresses training needs in his organization
5. Must comply with all safety rules and OP / local regulations
Desired Profile:
Master’s degree preferred (BA or Engineering)
Minimum 8 years of experience in purchasing in an industrial environment
Minimum 5 years experience in automotive industry Negotiation skills
Good understanding of product technical aspects and production
Financial knowledge
Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
Ability to create robust relationships and to inspire confidence
Strong leadership and people development mindset
Excellent written and oral skills
Mastering 2 languages (English mandatory)
Computer literate – (Microsoft office applications)
