Mission & Responsibilities :

As an International Trade & Customs Specialist, you ensure compliance and optimization of international trade and customs processes across our German business areas while supporting cross-functional international entities.

  • Implement and enforce customs guidelines and corporate functional concepts
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant customs regulations at German sites
  • Act as key contact for customs authorities (EA / ZA / REX / AEO, etc.)
  • Conduct International Trade & Customs risk assessments
  • Ensure and maintain AEO compliance (internal audits, documentation, certification & recertification processes)
  • Manage supplier and customer communication within free trade agreements (LE / LLE / ATR)
  • Determine and calculate origin of goods in accordance with preferential law
  • Ensure compliant import/export clearance and adherence to trade sanctions and embargoes
  • Perform customs tariff classification according to the Harmonized System (HS) and prepare BTI applications
  • Optimize customs duties through trade agreements and local regulations
  • Support sourcing strategies to reduce customs value in new programs
  • Prepare and support customs audits and maintain required documentation

Competencies & Requirements :

  • Completed education in foreign trade, logistics, industrial business or freight forwarding
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on customs experience in an internationally active company (ideally automotive or logistics)
  • Strong expertise in EU preferential rules, rules of origin and Union Customs Code (UCC)
  • Experience with AEO requirements, audits and compliance documentation
  • Solid knowledge of import/export processes and customs classification (HS)
  • SAP proficiency and advanced MS Office skills
  • Fluent business English; German is desirable
  • Strong communication skills with authorities and internal stakeholders
  • Structured, solution-oriented and able to manage priorities effectively
  • Willingness to travel for business
