EMC Expert
Ready to take on meaningful challenges and shape the next generation of mobility?
Joining OPmobility means stepping into a global group with a purpose to keep people and goods moving safely, smarter, and sustainably everywhere.
As an EMC Expert, you will lead the development and implementation of EMC standards, methodologies, and best practices across product design and testing. You will ensure EMC risks are identified and addressed through design reviews, drive innovative approaches such as simulation and early risk detection, and strengthen team capabilities through technical mentoring and training.
Responsibilities
- Act as the Global EMC Expert, ensuring headlamp, rear lamp, and LDM products comply with global EMC requirements throughout the full development lifecycle, from design concept and simulation to validation and problem resolution.
- Analyze customer specifications, OEM requirements, and internal EMC requirements, translating them into product-level design and validation criteria.
- Participate in hardware architecture, schematic, and PCB layout reviews, providing expert guidance on filtering, shielding, grounding, component selection, and layout optimization.
- Develop and review EMC test plans and validation strategies, ensuring appropriate coverage of applicable requirements and standards.
- Lead EMC testing, including radiated/conducted emissions and immunity, ESD, and transient immunity, in internal and third-party laboratories.
- Analyze test results and EMC failures, identifying noise sources and coupling paths and defining effective, cost-conscious corrective solutions using tools such as near-field probes, spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
- Collaborate with hardware, software, mechanical, validation, and wire-harness teams to integrate EMC requirements throughout product development.
- Establish and continuously improve EMC design guidelines, checklists, methodologies, and internal processes.
- Mentor and coach EE, ECAD, MCAD, validation, and wire-harness engineers, strengthening EMC competency across engineering teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Electronic Engineering, Microwave & Electromagnetic Fields, Communications Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of EMC development or testing experience in the automotive electronics industry, with experience across the full automotive product development lifecycle.
- Strong expertise in component selection, schematic design, and PCB layout, with a focus on EMC performance.
- Strong understanding of automotive system development, component/vehicle interactions, and vehicle-level EMC requirements.
- Familiar with EMC design standards and testing methodologies to meet various OEM requirements.
- Ability to communicate and negotiate technical deviations with OEMs when required.
- Strong results orientation, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Effective global communication skills, with advanced written and spoken English.
- Strong continuous learning and self-development mindset.
At OPmobility, people truly matter. We are committed to building inclusive teams, promoting diversity and equality, and ensuring that every application is considered fairly - because the future of mobility is built by diverse perspectives, bold ideas, and people who dare to move forward.
Innovation is therefore not a buzzword, but a natural part of everyday work. You’ll grow in an international environment where cutting-edge technologies, industrial excellence, and real-world impact come together to tackle the challenges of tomorrow’s automotive industry.
Founded in 1946 by Pierre Burelle, OPmobility, known until 2024 as Plastic Omnium, has transformed itself into a player in sustainable and connected mobility. Today, OPmobility develops technological solutions across four areas of expertise: exterior and lighting systems, the integration of complex modules, technologies related to energy storage, hydrogen and electrification, and a division dedicated to the development of embedded software and digital solutions.
With €11.6 billion in revenue in 2024, 150 factories, 40 R&D centers, and nearly 40,000 employees across 28 countries, OPmobility combines global scale with local impact. All driven by a shared ambition to accelerate the automotive energy transition.
