Reporting to the Group Data Officer, the Global Data Practice Manager is responsible for setting-up and managing the data practice. He/she oversees the delivery of data projects on a global scale. This role involves planning, resource management and quality management, and ensuring the performance of a multidisciplinary team composed of Data Engineers, Business Intelligence Engineers, and Data Scientists. She/he plays a key role in defining and executing the company's data strategy, ensuring technical and operational excellence. 

 

Main activities include 

 

Team Management and capacity management 

Recruit, define training plans, and support data team talents. 

Establish an efficient work framework fostering collaboration and innovation. 

Manage the team’s capacity planning based on business needs and strategic priorities. 

Develop partnerships with universities and academic institutions to attract top talent. 

 

Development of Standards and Best Practices 

Define and ensure adherence to development standards and best practices. 

Structure development and integration processes for data solutions (Data Engineering, BI, Data Science, etc.). 

Promote high-quality code, performance optimization, and maintainability across all data solutions. 

 

Functional operations and Data Integrity 

Oversees the run of data pipelines to ensure optimal performance. 

Ensure that the data in the platform meets the required quality and reliability standards. 

Implement monitoring and alert processes to detect and resolve anomalies. 

 

Innovation and Technology Watch 

Define and lead the technology roadmap for Data solutions (Lakehouse, Data Science, Data Visualization, etc.). 

Promote experimentation and innovation in adopting new technologies and approaches. 

Ensure the data practice stays updated on market trends and continuously propose improvements. 


Required profile & experience

  • Master’s degree (Bac +5) in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field. 

  • At least 10 years of experience in the data field, with a minimum of 3 years in team management, including leadership roles in a global context. 

 

  • General understanding of IT technologies (Cloud, network DevOps,,...) and IT frameworks (ITIL, Togaf, ISO 27001…) 

  • Functional understanding of key business areas (finance, manufacturing, supply chain, R&D…) 

  • Excellent knowledge of data architectures (Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Data Mesh, etc.). 

  • Proficiency with data tools and technologies (Azure data factory, Azure fabric, Databricks, etc.). 

  • Experience in managing data pipelines and ensuring data integrity 

  • Ability to manage project timelines, resources & budgets. Experience with Agile or other project management methodologies. 

  • Strong experience in managing multidisciplinary data teams. 

  • Ability to structure and lead a technical community 

 

Key behavioral skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to lead & motivate the team. 

  • Clear communication with stakeholders, including executives and technical staff. 

  • Ability to plan and organize activities efficiently. 

  • Proficient in English, another language is a plus.
