Job title: Component Development Engineer
Location: Plastic Omnium Auto Inergy, Troy, MI
Job duties: Engineer, release, validate passenger vehicle injection molded plastic fuel feed and fuel vapor lines, line clips and mounting brackets for fuel tank systems, using Siemens NX, Teamcenter, Teamcenter Vismockup, Siemens Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles. Convert functional requirements into GD&T specifications. Conduct dimensional checks of passenger vehicle parts drawings using Siemens NX and Teamcenter tools, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles. Create 2D tolerance stackups. Create Design Work Orders (DWOs) and release parts and product design changes. Create Design Transfer Requests (DTRs) to provide CAD math data to Tier II suppliers for review and quotation. Develop and review Design Verification Plans and Reports (DVP&Rs) from planning, testing and reporting to verification of lines, clips, and brackets. Required U.S. travel to automotive Tier II component suppliers to review supplier Production Part Approval Process (PPAPs), and to Plastic Omnium plants in U.S. and Mexico to review product testing and validation reports, up to 15 days per year.
Education: Bachelor, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related.
Experience: Twenty-four months’ experience as Engineer, Design Engineer, or related, conducting dimensional checks of passenger vehicle parts drawings using NX and Teamcenter tools, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles., or related.
