As a Commodity Buyer, you will act as a strategic leader across regional and global teams, influencing decisions that support OPmobility’s long-term growth and operational excellence.
You’ll leverage your market knowledge, supplier management skills, and data-driven mindset to develop and execute best‑in‑class commodity strategies—while continuously optimizing cost, quality, and supply-chain performance.
This is a salaried, exempt position requiring both domestic and international travel.
What You Will Do
Strategic Leadership & Supplier Management
- Lead regional and global cross-functional teams to build and execute global commodity strategies for assigned commodities.
- Partner with the Legal department to ensure all supplier agreements (Master Agreements, FIAs, NDAs, Consignment Agreements) are compliant and commercially sound.
- Manage suppliers within the Extended Enterprise framework and in alignment with the Purchasing Responsibility Matrix.
- Conduct supplier development and capability assessments for existing and potential suppliers.
Cost Optimization & Performance
- Own aggressive material cost reduction targets and deliver monthly performance results (actual vs. target).
- Lead VAVE efforts from idea generation to implementation, partnering closely with suppliers, program teams, and manufacturing sites.
- Develop cost models and cost‑estimating tools to improve negotiation leverage and sourcing accuracy.
- Use KPIs, data analytics, and best procurement practices to drive continuous improvement.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Identify supply‑chain risks and implement robust mitigation plans.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, global regulations, and geopolitical/economic considerations affecting supply.
Program Support
- Support Program Buyers with RFQs, sourcing decisions, and program purchasing throughout the product lifecycle.
- Ensure alignment of all sourcing decisions with global commodity strategies.
- Approve purchase orders and sourcing recommendations to meet program timing and cost requirements.
Operational Excellence
- Support supplier quality and performance goals through the Supplier Scorecard process.
- Maintain accurate purchasing documentation in accordance with internal procedures.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to corrective action plans.
- Assist with special projects and cross‑functional reviews as needed.
Key Performance Indicators
- Material cost reduction (actual vs. target)
- Supplier performance metrics (quality, delivery, cost)
- VAVE savings delivered
- Risk mitigation effectiveness
- Compliance with global sourcing strategies
What You Bring
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum 4 years of experience as a Commodity Buyer or in a similar purchasing role within a manufacturing environment.
- CPM certification or experience in the plastics or fuel-line industry is a plus.

- Proven ability to influence, align teams, and deliver results.
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills; comfortable managing multiple deadlines.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, understand manufacturing processes, and evaluate supplier capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
