System Engineer

The System Engineer is responsible for ensuring that developed systems meet customer requirements while delivering the expected level of performance and robustness. The role coordinates System Engineering activities across projects and drives the effective deployment and continuous improvement of System Development Processes and methodologies.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the specification, architecture, design, integration, and validation of complex multi-physics systems, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, system performance targets, robustness expectations, and applicable standards and regulations.
  • Act as the primary technical interface for customers on system-related topics, providing technical guidance, performance reporting, requirements clarification, and support throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Coordinate and lead cross-functional System Engineering activities across one or multiple projects, working closely with Mechanical, Hardware, Software, Validation, Calibration, Functional Safety, Cybersecurity, and other engineering teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Define and manage system requirements, functional analysis, system architecture, risk assessments, and gap analyses, ensuring technical solutions align with customer expectations, project objectives, quality targets, and development timelines.
  • Drive system integration, performance optimization, cost management, and risk mitigation activities throughout development, while monitoring project progress, resource utilization, development costs, and technical deliverables.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of System Engineering processes, methodologies, tools, and best practices, fostering collaboration across teams, supporting innovation initiatives, and promoting the development of competitive and differentiated system solutions.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Around 8 years of experience in the automotive industry, preferably in R&D, Systems Engineering, or Electronic Control Unit (ECU) development.
  • Proven experience in the architecture, development, and validation of automotive control systems and embedded systems.
  • Strong understanding of Electronic Control Units (ECU), vehicle diagnostics, and automotive communication systems, with knowledge of OBD I, OBD II, EOBD, and Functional Safety / RAMS requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with engineering and calibration tools such as CANalyzer, CANape, or equivalent solutions.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret engineering documentation related to E/E systems and product development.
  • Strong project coordination, technical leadership, stakeholder management, and customer-facing communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and multitasking abilities, with a structured approach to managing technical risks and project challenges.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable working with engineering processes, standards, and reporting tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and multicultural environment, managing multiple priorities under demanding timelines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional and international teams.
  • Team-oriented mindset with strong listening skills, sound judgment, and the ability to make timely and effective decisions.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages would be an advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in automotive lighting, body electronics, power electronics, or other vehicle control systems.
  • Familiarity with Functional Safety (ISO 26262), Cybersecurity, or Systems Engineering methodologies (e.g., Requirements Management, FMEA, V-Model).
  • Experience working directly with OEM customers within an automotive Tier-1 environment.
